The program requires the intern to commit to 10 weeks of participation in all formal training, mentoring, on-the-job learning, and opportunities to interact with senior leaders. • Program starts June 1, 2027, and ends August 6, 2027 • Pay rate: $25 per hour.
About the team and role
The Proposal Development Team supports Vizient and Kaufman Hall's responses to healthcare client requests for proposals (RFPs), collaborating with business-unit leaders and subject-matter experts to communicate solutions that address hospital and health-system priorities. This internship offers a 10-week rotation through Data & Digital, Consulting, and Spend Management, providing exposure to how Vizient and Kaufman Hall integrate analytics, technology, consulting expertise, and spend-management capabilities.
The intern will contribute to an active or recently completed RFP and develop a capstone presentation connecting the client's needs, Vizient's proposed response, and potential hospital- and healthcare-system-level impact.
What You’ll Do • Support RFP requirement reviews, compliance tracking, content research, document organization, proofreading, and proposal development. • Learn to understand health systems, including market context, strategic priorities, operating environment, and stated RFP needs; connect relevant capabilities to anticipated outcomes. • Participate in 3 rotations (Spend, Data & Digital, Consulting), team meetings, solution demonstrations, and appropriate pursuit discussions; interview subject-matter experts and collaborate with rotation leads and an RFP mentor. • Maintain a weekly learning log and capstone workplan; synthesize findings into clear, evidence-based executive messaging and visuals, incorporating feedback. • Follow Vizient quality and information-security expectations, protecting confidential client, proprietary, and pricing information. • Utilize proposal writing tools, such as Responsive, to help understand the content lifecycle • Capstone Project: Contribute to a business unit RFP and prepare a 10-15 minute executive-ready capstone presentation communicating solution development and impact to present to leadership.
What You’ll Learn • How hospitals and health systems address strategic, operational, financial, clinical, and supply-chain priorities, and how Vizient’s three business units create enterprise value. • The end-to-end RFP lifecycle, including intake, compliance review, content development, pricing coordination, approvals, design, submission, and review of content for future use; use of relevant RFP tools (Responsive) and Microsoft Office applications. • How Proposal Development partners with Data & Digital, Consulting, Spend Management, and subject-matter experts to tailor integrated solutions to client needs. • Research, analysis, project coordination, professional writing, stakeholder communication, executive storytelling, and presentation skills.
Qualifications • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, healthcare administration, communications, marketing, analytics, supply chain, public health, or a related field. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams. • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to learn unfamiliar topics quickly; experience with research or data visualization is helpful. • Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving skills. • Interest in healthcare, professional services, data and technology, consulting, proposal development, or supply-chain strategy. • Ability to participate in the full 10-week internship program, June 1-August 6, 2027.
